115: Anxiety

115: Anxiety

It is not a new feeling, this familiar burden
It’s come and gone, but will be here to stay
For the next two years, as I had feared
A continual desire to worry over the future

It is a long and arduous process
The steps to success are not easily carved by
The pursuer of the goals
And so results in my ongoing distress

Promises you shall do well, sure,
But there will always be haters
Discouragement, discord, disengagement
These people do not contribute to the wealth of success

Even so, the luxury of time is one cannot afford
Trapped in the abyss of academia where performance is everything
Well then, there will be many sleepless nights
And dreadful thoughts to cloud my crumbling vision
