218: Sixteen Again?
It’s the most vulnerable we’ve ever felt together, in this one body we share. We’ve never felt so lonely, so shut out, so excluded, perhaps not since we were sixteen. We are afraid of what love is, what power it gives the person we love to destroy us. It is our greatest glory, and yet simultaneously our greatest tragedy. Why are we falling in love again? Our exams are all crammed into the end of the week. We’re planning our school holidays already. What are we doing with our lives? We’re thinking too far ahead into the future, we’re trying to plan memories that might not happen for us.
We’re sixteen again. We’ve fallen into the same traps, the same mistakes, the same routines, the same depression. We fall, and fall, and fall, and we always choose the wrong time to do so.
